When drought hit her village two seasons running, Amara watched her maize wither before it could feed her family — let alone reach a market. Like one in three smallholder farmers, she had no access to seed varieties bred to survive a changing climate.

Through a local CropSecurity.org training program, Amara received drought-tolerant seed stock, hands-on guidance in crop rotation, and a place in a nearby farming cooperative. She learned to read her soil, stagger her planting, and store surplus grain safely.

One season later, her harvest had doubled. For the first time, Amara sold her surplus at a fair price through the cooperative — turning resilience into income, and a single good season into a foundation she can build on.
